Olmos Park Youth Commission recently held our Winter Membership Meeting on Feb. 26. It was graciously hosted at the home of Clare and Oliver Duffin and his family and coordinated by board member Jennifer Robelo and supported by board member, Jennifer Parascand.
We had a wonderful gathering of teens and parents who collectively donated 122 lbs of food for the Food Bank!! We are grateful to all the donors and member Sebastian Robelo and mom, Jennifer Robelo for transporting those donations to the Food Bank.
Our featured speaker was Dr. Bloyce Britton. Dr. Britton shared interesting anecdotes and facts about his profession and about the often winding adventure of discovering your passion and making it a possible lifelong profession. Special thanks to Dr. Britton, Edie Britton and son, Spencer for being with us.
We also heard from members Avery Kieschnick and Rafael Mendible-Diaz about their respective initiatives to help raise much needed funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Avery and Rafael highlighted their personal stories of what inspired them to undertake this meaningful endeavor and how they were leading teams of teens, family and friends to achieve their goals. Very inspiring!
To round out the meeting, members Meade Flavin and Spencer Britton provided updates about their milestone Eagle Scout projects, highlighting some of the steps and support needed to carry out these inspiring projects that will be wonderful enhancements to our community.

It was a great gathering and we look forward to being together again soon!
